Bangladesh has recorded at least two more dengue-related fatalities alongside a significant surge in new hospital admissions, according to the latest official figures released on August 15, 2026. Data compiled by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) highlights the ongoing public health challenge posed by the mosquito-borne disease across various regions of the country.

According to the health agency's 24-hour reporting window leading up to 8:00am, both of the latest reported fatalities occurred specifically within the Khulna division. These tragic losses elevate the cumulative national death toll from dengue to 67 individuals since the beginning of the relevant tracking period.

In addition to the fatalities, the Directorate General of Health Services recorded 730 new dengue patients being admitted to hospitals across the country during the exact same 24-hour timeframe. This latest influx of patients pushes the overall cumulative number of reported dengue cases in Bangladesh to a staggering total of 23,173.

Amidst these rising numbers, medical facilities nationwide continue to manage a high volume of active cases. Current tracking indicates that there are 1,648 dengue patients actively undergoing medical treatment at various hospitals located throughout the country.

The continuous reporting of new hospitalisations and fatalities underscores the persistent severity of the outbreak. Health authorities, as documented by organizations including the Daily Star, maintain ongoing surveillance through the Directorate General of Health Services to monitor the spread and clinical management of the disease.
