Health authorities in Bangladesh have released alarming new statistics concerning the ongoing outbreak of measles and measles-like symptoms across the country, highlighting a continuing crisis for pediatric healthcare. According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the nation recorded seven additional deaths of children suffering from measles symptoms over the past 24 hours alone, compounding an already severe public health emergency.

Alongside the fatalities, the 24-hour reporting period captured a high volume of new infections. Specifically, a total of 1,031 children were reported to have been afflicted with measles and related symptoms during this timeframe, reflecting the persistent and widespread transmission of the illness within communities across the region.

Looking at the broader trajectory of the outbreak dating back to March 15, the cumulative impact has proven devastating. The health directorate confirmed that within this extended period, exactly 816 children have died specifically from measles symptoms, while an additional 99 children have lost their lives directly to confirmed measles infections, bringing the combined total mortality to 915 children.

Furthermore, the cumulative epidemiological data since March 15 illustrates the massive scale of the response required by hospitals and medical staff. The total number of suspected measles patients registered nationwide has reached 143,778 individuals, out of which 17,930 cases have been formally verified as confirmed measles.

Healthcare facilities across the country continue to manage a heavy patient influx stemming from the outbreak. Institutional records indicate that a cumulative total of 125,386 patients have been admitted to hospitals for treatment, while 120,913 individuals have successfully recovered and returned to their homes after receiving necessary medical care.
