DGHS Reports Measles Outbreak Updates and Daily Casualties in Dhaka

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has provided ongoing data regarding measles cases and deaths during the current health crisis. According to the reported figures, the outbreak continues to impact communities nationwide, with health authorities monitoring daily casualties and infection rates closely across various regions.

In one of the reporting periods, five more patients died with measles and measles-like symptoms in 24 hours, bringing the combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 885 this year. During this timeframe, the total number of confirmed deaths from measles has risen to 99, while the total number of suspected deaths has risen to 786.

Additionally, 941 new suspected measles cases were reported during that 24-hour period, bringing the cumulative number to 139,125. Concurrently, 84 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, taking the total laboratory-confirmed infections to 17,469. Health records also indicated that 121,013 patients with suspected measles had been hospitalised across the country since March 15, of whom 116,827 successfully recovered.

In a subsequent update, six patients died with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours, bringing the combined death tally to 908 this year. This included an increase in the total number of suspected measles deaths, which reached 809. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed deaths from measles remained the same at 99 according to both reports issued by the health authorities.

Further tracking in the later report revealed that 1,021 new suspected measles cases were reported, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases to 142,797. Furthermore, 80 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total laboratory-confirmed infections to 17,880. Officials noted that 124,457 patients with suspected measles had been hospitalised since March 15, of whom 119,939 had recovered.
