Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman Drops Honorifics and Launches New Reforms
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed officials to avoid honorific titles ahead of his name in official work during his first six months in office. His administration has also rolled out significant welfare programs and appointed a defense adviser.
In a notable shift in governance style over the past six months, Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has formally requested that officials and government bodies avoid using the honorific term 'Honourable' or any similar titles before his name and designation in all official correspondence and daptorik tasks.
This directive regarding official nomenclature forms part of a broader set of policy initiatives implemented by the administration during its recent six-month tenure in Bangladesh. Alongside administrative protocol changes, the government has introduced several targeted social and economic support measures aimed at the populace.
Among the key policy initiatives launched during this six-month period are the introduction of family cards and farmer cards, which are designed to structure and deliver government assistance effectively to citizens and agricultural workers across the country.
In addition to welfare and administrative reforms, the government has initiated a nationwide canal digging program. This major environmental and agricultural infrastructure initiative is intended to improve water management and boost rural productivity throughout Bangladesh.
On the security and advisory front, retired Brigadier General A K M Shamsul Islam is currently serving in the administration as the defense adviser to the Prime Minister, providing strategic counsel to the government on national defense matters.
