Bangladesh Parliament Forms Ten New Standing Committees
Ten new parliamentary standing committees have been formed and one committee reconstructed in the Jatiya Sangsad. The proposals were brought forward by Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni and passed through a voice vote.
In a significant development within the Jatiya Sangsad in Bangladesh, a fresh batch of ten parliamentary standing committees has been officially formed, alongside the reconstruction of one existing committee. This legislative action expands the organizational structure within the national parliament, reflecting ongoing administrative processes.
The formal proposals for the formation of these new committees, as well as the restructuring of the single committee, were presented before the house by Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni. Following his presentation, the proposals were put to the floor and successfully passed through a voice vote by the assembled members.
Among the key changes implemented during this session, the parliamentary standing committee related to the Ministry of Agriculture underwent a leadership modification. Specifically, Shahadাত হোসেন সেলিম (Shahadat Hossain Selim) was appointed as the chairman of the agriculture committee, replacing Goyeshwar Chandra Roy who previously held the position.
A series of leadership appointments were also announced for various other ministry-related committees during the session. Abdus Salam Pintu has been designated as the chairman of the committee for the Ministry of Food, while Abul Khair Bhuiyan takes the helm of the committee concerning the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Additionally, Munshi Rafiqul Alam was named chairman for the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, and A K M Selim Reza Habib will lead the committee for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
Further committee chairmanships confirmed during the session include Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas for the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Joynal Abedin Farrok for the Ministry of Shipping, and Khairul Kabir Khokon for the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. Furthermore, Mahmuda Habiba has been assigned to lead the committee on the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Barkat Ullah Bulu takes charge of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan has been appointed to head the committee for the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.
Notably, none of the newly declared ten committees have assigned their chairmanship positions to members representing the opposition parties. Meanwhile, regarding the parliamentary standing committee related to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni stated that this specific committee will be formed at a later date.
