Bangladesh Madrasah Board Renames General Branch to Humanities
The Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board has officially renamed the general branch to the humanities branch for Dakhil and Alim levels. The updated nomenclature will take effect for regular candidates starting from the 2027 examinations.

The Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board has officially changed the name of its educational "general branch" to the "humanities branch" for students studying at both the Dakhil and Alim levels across the country. This administrative shift was formally adopted during an academic committee meeting held by the board on July 26, marking a notable update in how the educational tracks are designated within the madrasah system.
Following the committee's decision, the formal announcement was made public through an official notification issued on August 31. The notification bore the signature of Professor Dr. S M Towhiduzzaman, who serves as the registrar of the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, confirming the structural rebranding to all relevant educational institutions and stakeholders.
Despite the change in the branch's name, educational authorities have clarified that the core academic framework will remain entirely untouched. Specifically, the curriculum, syllabus, subject structure, total marks, evaluation methods, and overall examination rules will experience no alterations whatsoever as a result of this renaming process.
The newly mandated name will officially come into effect starting from the year 2027. Beginning in 2027, all students participating in the Dakhil and Alim examinations in the capacity of regular candidates will be required to use the updated "humanities branch" designation on their academic documents and registration materials.
