Bangladesh Approves New Assessment Framework and Textbooks for Secondary Grades

Education authorities in Bangladesh have finalized a significant overhaul of the secondary education system, establishing a new assessment framework and introducing modifications to textbooks for students ranging from grade six to grade nine. The comprehensive structural updates were formulated and finalized by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

The formal approval for this extensive new evaluation framework, along with the integration of newly designated study subjects, was officially granted during a high-level administrative meeting. The decisive session took place on August 24, 2026, convened specifically within the conference room of the Ministry of Education.

During the proceedings, the National Curriculum Coordination Committee (NCCC) thoroughly reviewed and authorized the proposed changes, marking a pivotal step forward in the nation's ongoing educational reforms. These structural modifications are designed to reshape how student performance and academic progress are measured across the middle and lower secondary tiers.

Looking ahead to the implementation timeline, educational institutions and students across the country will transition to the newly approved curriculum materials in the near future. According to the official schedule released by the authorities, students will begin studying from these newly revised textbooks starting officially from the upcoming 2027 academic year.
