All Govt Primary Schools to Get Midday Meals Next Year: Bobby Hajjaj

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has officially announced that midday meals will be introduced across all government primary schools within the coming year. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Secretariat in the capital, which was organized in observance of International Literacy Day on September 7, 2026. The ambitious plan aims to expand nutritional food distribution to every government-run primary educational institution nationwide, marking a significant step forward for the ministry's student welfare initiatives.

Providing further details on the current scope of the nutrition program, the state minister noted that the school feeding program is already actively operating across 151 upazilas. Under this existing framework, more than 3 million students are currently receiving nutritious meals on a regular basis. To ensure firsthand oversight of these ongoing operations, the state minister personally inspected 12 to 14 districts across the country to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of the food distribution process on the ground.

Addressing the logistical improvements of the program, Bobby Hajjaj stated that the initial fault levels observed at the start of the initiative have now been almost entirely eliminated. While stopping short of claiming absolute perfection, he emphasized that the operational errors have been successfully reduced to nearly zero. This progress reflects stricter monitoring and better coordination within the administrative framework managing the nationwide school feeding operations.

The state minister also highlighted a newly empowered feedback mechanism built into the food distribution system to maintain high standards. According to the minister, if the recipients or local stakeholders do not consider the provided food to be acceptable, they possess the authority to immediately send it back. He confirmed that this accountability measure has already yielded very positive results in ensuring the quality of meals delivered to the students.

Looking ahead toward future adjustments, the ministry is actively exploring whether any further changes should be introduced to the program. However, Bobby Hajjaj clarified that any potential modifications will strictly maintain the same nutritional value for the children. The primary and mass education ministry remains focused on sustaining high dietary standards while expanding the reach of the midday meal program to every single government primary school by next year.
