Developed by pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, the newly authorised medication provides patients with an alternative oral treatment option.
With this regulatory decision, the United Kingdom has become the first country across the entire continent of Europe to approve the drug. Foundayo is also scientifically known as orforglipron. The medication is specifically indicated for treating both obesity and type 2 diabetes conditions.
This approval by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency follows previous regulatory milestones within the country's healthcare sector. Specifically, the regulatory agency had earlier approved a different pill version of Wegovy in June.
