UIU Launches 18 New AC Buses to Enhance Student Transport in Dhaka
United International University has rolled out a fleet of 18 new air-conditioned buses to serve students across six key routes in Dhaka. University leadership and United Group representatives inaugurated the transport service at the campus.
On September 2, United International University (UIU) officially launched a brand-new fleet of 18 air-conditioned buses dedicated to student transportation at the university campus in Dhaka. This significant transport initiative has been designed to operate across six important routes throughout Dhaka city, addressing the daily commuting needs of the student body since the institution relocated to its permanent campus in 2018.
Hasan Mahmud Raja, Chairman of the UIU Board of Trustees, highlighted the institution's ongoing commitment to student welfare during the rollout of the new fleet. He stated that UIU has always prioritized essential student services alongside its core educational activities. According to Mr. Raja, this new AC bus service will play a positive role in the university lives of the students by ensuring their regular attendance in classes and promoting punctuality.
Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, Chairman and Managing Director of United Group and Joint General Secretary of the UIU Board of Trustees, emphasized the corporate group's dedication to the educational sector. He remarked that United Group has consistently played a responsible role in ensuring a modern educational environment for students. Mr. Rashid noted that the new transport service will allow students to save time while enjoying a safe and comfortable journey, adding that United Group will continue to support the university in future initiatives to build UIU as an international-standard knowledge-based institution.
Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor of UIU, also addressed the importance of the new fleet for the campus community. He stated that ensuring a safe and comfortable campus life alongside quality education is an important responsibility of the university. Dr. Mia further explained that the new bus service will make daily commuting easy, safe, and comfortable, which in turn will help students focus more intently on their studies.
Concluding the remarks on the university's future direction, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia reaffirmed that the welfare and convenience of the students will remain the highest priority. He confirmed that similar student-focused initiatives and undertakings will continue to be rolled out by the university in the future to support the academic community.
