UGC Member Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun Addresses Workshops and Freshers' Receptions

University Grants Commission member Professor Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun addressed separate events on August 14 and 15 in Sirajganj and Khulna. The discussions focused on strengthening industry-academia ties, reducing unemployment, and creating new startup and creative sector funds.

University Grants Commission (UGC) member Professor Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun delivered crucial addresses at separate workshops and freshers' reception events held on August 14 and 15, 2026. These significant gatherings took place across the regions of Sirajganj and Khulna, drawing participation from prominent academics, institutional leaders, and students alike.

During his comprehensive addresses, Professor Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun emphasized the vital need to bridge the gap between educational institutions and industrial sectors. He highlighted that the government is actively implementing various proactive initiatives focused on forging a strong bond between industry and academia, systematically enhancing student skill sets, and expanding employment opportunities to effectively reduce national unemployment.

To support the younger demographic, Professor Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun announced substantial financial provisions being undertaken by the administration. He stated that the government has taken definitive steps to establish a 500 crore taka startup fund dedicated to nurturing young entrepreneurs, alongside an allocation of 800 crore taka aimed specifically at fostering the development of the creative sector.

Furthermore, addressing the agricultural landscape, the UGC member underscored the importance of modernizing the agricultural sector and building a technology-driven farming system. He reiterated that the government is earnestly working to ensure that young individuals, particularly students enrolled in agricultural universities, receive specialized training and develop the necessary professional competencies.

The events also marked major institutional milestones through collaborative agreements involving several universities and corporate entities. Notably, important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were officially signed between Rabindra University and ten industrial enterprises, as well as between Khulna Agricultural University and five distinct organizations to bolster institutional cooperation.

The high-profile gatherings were attended by a host of distinguished personalities, including Professor Dr. Tahmina Akhtar, Professor Dr. Md. Abdus Sobhan, Professor Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman, Md. Rezaul Karim, Professor Dr. Mohammad Masood, and Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahmed Kamal. Prominent corporate and agricultural organizations such as ACI Motors, Aman Feed, Bayer CropScience, and Lal Teer also maintained a notable presence across these regional events.
