Uber introduces live video streaming to enhance teen passenger safety in the US

Ride-hailing company Uber has announced the launch of a new safety feature specifically designed for teenage passengers. The newly introduced capability, known as live video streaming, aims to provide an additional layer of security and peace of mind for families utilizing the transportation platform.

Through this newly implemented feature, parents and guardians are granted the ability to directly view the interior of the vehicle while a trip is in progress. The functionality operates by utilizing the driver's smartphone selfie camera, enabling real-time visual monitoring throughout the duration of the journey.

The safety enhancement has already been rolled out initially across various cities within the United States. According to the company's deployment schedule, the live video streaming capability will expand further to encompass all cities across the country within the coming weeks.

This latest security upgrade builds upon previous safety measures established by the company for younger demographics. Notably, Uber had previously introduced specialized accounts designated for teenagers in the United States back in 2023.
