Two Brothers Clash Over Father's Burial in Jashore

A violent clash erupted between two brothers in Jashore over the burial of their deceased father, drawing the intervention of local law enforcement and community leaders. The incident took place on Monday in the village of Sannyasgachha, located within the Gourighona Union of the Keshabpur Upazila in Jashore district, according to reports confirmed by local authorities and media sources such as Samakal.

The deceased has been identified as 72-year-old Abdul Khaleq Mann. Following his death, a bitter dispute arose between two of his sons, Mahabur Rahman Mann and Asabur Rahman Mann, regarding the specific arrangements for his burial and the exact plot of land to be used for his grave.

As the disagreement escalated into physical violence, members of both opposing factions became embroiled in a bloody confrontation. The severe altercation resulted in injuries to a total of five individuals from both sides, who subsequently had to be admitted to the hospital for medical treatment.

In addition to the two primary brothers involved, several other individuals were documented as being connected to the unfolding situation, including Momtaz Begum, Lilima Khatun, Halima Begum, and Jogesh Chand Mondal, though the exact nature of their involvement during the confrontation remains part of the local account.

The standoff over the burial site eventually drew the attention of the Keshabpur Police Station. Law enforcement personnel, alongside respected local dignitaries and community leaders, stepped in to mediate the tense domestic dispute.

Through the concerted efforts of the police and the local community leaders who acted as intermediaries, a resolution was successfully reached. The deceased, Abdul Khaleq Mann, was ultimately laid to rest in the ancestral graveyard, bringing a temporary end to the family conflict that had disrupted the village.
