Tips and preparation for securing fully funded scholarships abroad
Experts share essential guidelines for Bangladeshi students aiming for fully funded scholarships abroad. The discussion covers academic excellence, language proficiency, and application strategies.

Securing a fully funded scholarship for higher education abroad requires meticulous planning and preparation. In recent guidance shared in Bangladesh, experts and successful candidates—including Alauddin Aladdin, Shakib, Rifat, Nishat, Rahinur, Nabia, and Faisal Siddique Kabby—outlined the critical steps and strategies needed to navigate the competitive international application process successfully.
A primary focus of the preparation involves meeting specific academic and standardized testing benchmarks. For prominent programs like the Fulbright Scholarship, applicants are required to achieve a minimum score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or a score between 78 and 80 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test (TOEFL-iBT).
However, standardized test scores alone are not sufficient. The guidance emphasizes that obtaining a fully funded scholarship relies heavily on a comprehensive profile. This includes maintaining strong academic results, crafting a compelling motivation letter, securing impactful recommendation letters, demonstrating leadership qualities, and highlighting extracurricular activities along with relevant research experience.
Interestingly, not all European destinations strictly mandate standardized English tests for every applicant. Many European countries, notably Sweden, provide opportunities for international students to apply without submitting IELTS scores, provided that their previous educational degrees were completed entirely through the medium of English.
Aspiring scholars are encouraged to carefully review the specific requirements of each institution and country they apply to. By combining excellent academic credentials, well-rounded extracurricular involvement, and strategic documentation, students from Bangladesh can significantly enhance their prospects of studying abroad through fully funded opportunities.
