State Minister Nurul Huq Nur Inspects Patuakhali EPZ Project

State Minister Nurul Huq Nur visited the Patuakhali Export Processing Zone (EPZ) project on Sunday, August 30, at noon. The official visit to the Patuakhali EPZ location provided an opportunity for the state minister to observe ongoing developments and address key infrastructure and environmental initiatives associated with the project.

During his inspection of the Patuakhali Export Processing Zone (EPZ) project, Nurul Huq Nur shared detailed remarks regarding the generation of electricity from waste. He addressed the broader economic and health implications of pollution caused by untreated refuse, noting the heavy toll it takes on the population.

Highlighting the severe consequences of environmental degradation, Nurul Huq Nur stated, “The financial losses caused by the severe damage to the human body through waste-induced air pollution exceed several million. Preventing that damage and converting waste into electricity is an extremely positive achievement. Just as there are costs here, there are also major environmental and health benefits.”

The state minister also drew a clear distinction between the waste-to-electricity initiative and controversial power generation models from previous administrations. He explicitly rejected any parallels with past policies that burdened the national economy through questionable expenditures.

Nurul Huq Nur further stated regarding the previous administration, “There is no comparison between this project and the culture of looting or capacity charges in the name of quick rental power plants during the tenure of the past government.” The official event concluded following his comprehensive review of the Patuakhali Export Processing Zone (EPZ) project site on August 30.
