In a heartwarming display of empathy and dedication within the academic community, a faculty member at Sonargaon University recently stepped up to support a struggling student. Lecturer Abdur Rahman Rahad, who teaches in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the institution, made headlines during a routine class test. Rather than forcing the student to choose between her maternal responsibilities and her academic progress, Rahad chose a path of inclusion and understanding by holding the student's young child directly in his own arms while the mother focused entirely on completing her examination.

The gesture has resonated deeply, highlighting the complex realities faced by women pursuing higher education while managing domestic duties. Reflecting on his decision not to reschedule the assessment for a later time, Lecturer Abdur Rahman Rahad provided profound insight into the structural disadvantages often placed on female students. He noted the immense hardships women face in our culture, stating that a female student must navigate the combined pressures of society, family, husband, household, and children just to carve out a moment to advance her own dreams.

Rahad further explained the pedagogical and psychological reasoning behind his actions during the class test at Sonargaon University. He emphasized that rescheduling the test for a later slot would have sent the wrong message to the student. In his view, it would have been entirely unreasonable for her to fall behind her peers in the same academic race simply because of her child, while everyone else took the examination at the scheduled time. Ensuring equal footing for the mother was paramount to maintaining fairness in the classroom environment.

Speaking on the broader significance of motherhood and academic persistence, the Sonargaon University lecturer shared an inspiring message for the student and others in similar situations. He asserted that motherhood is never a barrier, but rather the greatest strength a person can possess. According to Rahad, with children right by their side, individuals can successfully prove their intellect and press forward toward their goals.

Despite the immense positive public reaction and widespread discussion generated by the incident, Lecturer Abdur Rahman Rahad remains remarkably humble about his role in the classroom. He views his supportive action as a natural extension of his professional duties, noting that an educator acts much like a guardian. Rahad simply carried out that essential responsibility as a human being, describing the entire occurrence as a very ordinary matter while expressing surprise at the extensive attention it has ultimately received.
