Solar Eclipse Views Across Scotland Despite Cloud Cover

A solar eclipse unfolded across Scotland on Wednesday evening, providing stargazers with a rare celestial spectacle that lasted for approximately two hours. Observers across the country looked to the skies as the Moon passed between the Earth and the sun, resulting in up to 95 percent of the sun being obscured by the Moon in Scotland.

Despite the significant blockage of solar light, weather conditions posed a challenge for many enthusiasts hoping to catch a clear glimpse of the phenomenon. Reflecting on the less-than-ideal atmospheric conditions, a member of the public candidly noted, 'The cloud just wasn't on our side.'

Despite the frustrating cloud cover that hindered optimal viewing for many locals in Scotland, other regions experienced even more dramatic darkness. Parts of Spain and Portugal witnessed a total eclipse during the broader astronomical event.
