Sherpur Mobile Court Fines Fertilizer Dealers Total Tk 20,000

A mobile court was conducted in Sherpur Sadar upazila on the 9th of September to maintain control over the local fertilizer market. The administrative drive was initiated by the district administration and the agriculture department to ensure proper monitoring and regulation of essential agricultural supplies for local farmers.

The mobile court operation was personally led by Asma Binte Rafiq, who serves as the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and executive magistrate for Sherpur Sadar upazila. Her active participation in the field underscored the administration's commitment to addressing irregularities and enforcing compliance among local traders and business operators.

During the course of the inspection, two distinct business establishments were found to be in violation of regulations. Consequently, the mobile court penalized these operations, imposing a combined total of 20,000 taka in fines for their illegal practices and failure to adhere to established commercial guidelines.

According to the Sherpur Sadar Upazila Agriculture Office, the specific infraction involved the simultaneous sale of fertilizers alongside food products and animal feed, which constitutes a punishable offense under the operational rules governing these vital commodities. The enforcement action directly addressed this illicit multi-product trading practice.

Muslima Khanam Nilu, representing the agricultural authorities, provided official context regarding the availability of essential farming supplies in the region. She stated that there is currently no shortage in the allocation of fertilizers for Sadar upazila during the ongoing month.

Elaborating further on the situation, Muslima Khanam Nilu noted that while numerous complaints had been received by the authorities, subsequent field inspections revealed that the reality on the ground did not always match the nature of those initial reports. Nevertheless, due to the proven violation of selling fertilizer, food products, and animal feed together, two businessmen faced immediate legal consequences and were brought under the scope of punishment.
