Shahrashti Canal Project Saves Funds While Exceeding Targets
Authorities in Chandpur's Shahrashti have completed canal re-excavation work exceeding initial targets while spending less than the allocated budget. The initiative resulted in significant financial savings returned directly to the state treasury.
In a notable administrative achievement within the Chandpur district of Bangladesh, local authorities in Shahrashti have successfully completed a major water management initiative by spending less money than the officially designated budget while simultaneously surpassing their original operational targets.
According to verified reports covering the region, the publicly funded undertaking involved two distinct development projects aimed at improving local drainage and agricultural irrigation. Through these combined efforts, approximately 21 kilometers of vital local canals were successfully re-excavated across the area.
Despite the considerable scale of the excavation work—which ultimately exceeded the initial performance projections set for the two projects—efficient financial management ensured that total expenditures remained below the estimated budgetary allocation provided for the undertakings.
As a direct result of this cost-effective implementation, a substantial sum of unspent public money was successfully preserved. Officials confirmed that an exact amount of 40 lakh 80 thousand taka in unused funds has now been officially returned to the government treasury.
