Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan Sign Joint Defense Pact in Mecca

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan have officially signed a historic joint defense pact. The high-level agreement was concluded on August 7 in the holy city of Mecca, marking a significant development in regional military cooperation and strategic alignment among the participating nations.

The landmark treaty was signed by key leaders from the three countries, including Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was also associated with the diplomatic developments surrounding the major pact.

In the wake of this new military arrangement, Bangladesh has formally expressed its strong interest in joining the defense bloc. Commenting on this prospective membership, expert Sahab Enam Khan stated, "If Bangladesh joins this defense alliance, there will be an opportunity to benefit from both military security and economic perspectives."

Analyzing the broader geopolitical implications of the agreement, researcher Altaf Parvez noted, "The existing world order is gradually collapsing. Regional powers are now clinging to each other to find a way to survive. The Mecca Pact is a continuation of that."

Elaborating on the long-term vision of the newly formed coalition, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized the inclusive ambitions of the participating governments. President Erdogan stated, "Our goal is not limited to just these three countries, but to be broader and, if possible, to create a situation so that one day all the countries of this region can gather under this umbrella."
