Brazilian football icon Roberto Carlos has firmly rejected widespread reports and rumours claiming that he has converted to Islam. The former Real Madrid and Fenerbahce player addressed the speculation directly to clear up any confusion surrounding his personal beliefs and religious practices.

Addressing the false claims during an interview with the Okaz newspaper, Carlos provided complete clarity on the matter. He explicitly stated that despite the circulating reports, the information regarding his alleged conversion to Islam is entirely untrue.

During the same interview, the 53-year-old sports figure elaborated on his relationship with his faith and his wife, Soheila El Tahiri. Carlos shared personal insights into his household, noting that he finds it wonderful to watch his wife perform her daily prayers.

Alongside these observations, the former international football star made a point to emphasize his perspective on the religion as a whole. Carlos stated for the record that he holds the utmost and highest level of respect for Islam, despite not having converted himself.

The rumours surrounding Carlos had drawn attention across various regions including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Brazil, involving figures such as Sheikh Jihad Hamada and Ali Sahin from the Justice and Development Party (AK Party). However, the player's direct interview with Okaz has now put the speculation to rest.
