Repentant Thief Returns Stolen Gas Cylinder with Apology Letter

An unusual case of remorse emerged in the Kishoreganj district on Monday night, 17 August 2026, when a repentant individual decided to return a stolen item. The incident centered around a gas cylinder that had been taken from a local business in the region.

According to the verified details of the occurrence, the stolen property originally belonged to a local tea shop owner named Kamal Mia, who operates his business in the Charfaradi area located within Pakundia upazila.

Rather than keeping the stolen goods or attempting to sell them, the perpetrator opted to return the cylinder by leaving it at the Charfaradi Madrasa, where it was subsequently recovered alongside a written note detailing the thief's perspective and motivations.

In the extensive apology letter left behind, the thief addressed the local dignitaries and community members directly to express deep regret. The writer explicitly stated, "I am not a professional thief. I committed the theft by mistake. I am repentant for doing this work and I promise that I will not get involved in such despicable activities in the future."
