According to official information provided by Western Railway, the initial damage occurred early in the morning when a section of the railway track broke at approximately 6:15 AM. Hours later, a train derailment compounded the transportation crisis in the area, impacting locations including Rajshahi, Arani, Abdulpur, Harian, and Bagatipara.

The sequence of events led to a prolonged suspension of train movements across the affected corridor.
