RAB Arrests Key Suspects Over Dhaka Filling Station Robbery

Law enforcement authorities in Bangladesh have made significant breakthroughs in separate operations concerning financial crimes, resulting in multiple arrests and the recovery of stolen funds. The Rapid Action Battalion has successfully detained three individuals identified as the masterminds and key implementers behind a major armed heist targeting a filling station in the capital city.

According to details provided by Wing Commander M Z M Intekhab Chowdhury, director of RAB’s legal and media wing, the robbery occurred on August 9 at approximately 10:30 in the morning. A red small covered van carrying 12.1 million taka from the DL Filling Station in the capital's airport area was intercepted and robbed by an armed gang while en route to deposit the money in a bank.

During the ensuing security operations, the elite force managed to recover 4.8 million taka of the total stolen amount. The comprehensive crackdown on criminal networks highlights ongoing efforts to curb armed heists and financial crimes across the metropolitan area and surrounding regions.

Speaking on the broader security situation and operational successes, Wing Commander M Z M Intekhab Chowdhury emphasized the unwavering commitment of the law enforcement agency. He stated that the elite force will continue to conduct its operations with even greater firmness in the future to uphold the rule of law, protect human rights, ensure the security of citizens, identify and prevent crimes, and bring criminals to justice.

In a separate development in Meherpur on August 20, the district detective police apprehended Shamim Reza, a fugitive accused facing charges under the cyber security act and operating as an online gambling agent. Detective Branch Officer-in-Charge Prodip Kumar Sana led the operation that successfully secured the arrest of the suspect, reflecting intensified regional crackdowns against illegal digital gambling operations.
