NSTU Students Face Severe Waterlogging After Rain Due to Lack of Drainage

Students at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) in Bangladesh continue to face severe travel difficulties and commuting challenges following even a slight amount of rainfall. The recurring problem is primarily caused by the persistent lack of an effective central drainage system across the university campus, leaving the academic environment vulnerable to water accumulation.

Despite twenty-one years having passed since the official establishment of Noakhali Science and Technology University, the institution has yet to develop or implement a functioning central drainage infrastructure. This long-standing absence of proper water management facilities means that rainwater fails to drain away efficiently from the campus grounds.

Consequently, whenever rain occurs, various internal roads and pathways throughout the NSTU campus quickly become submerged in water and thick mud. The resulting muddy roads and widespread waterlogging create significant hurdles for the student body, severely disrupting their daily movement and academic activities within the university premises.

The situation highlights ongoing infrastructural shortcomings at the institution, where students are repeatedly subjected to hardship during the rainy seasons. Without a proper central drainage system in place to mitigate these environmental conditions, the campus roads remain prone to water stagnation and muddy hazards upon the arrival of even minor precipitation.
