Nine Rescued After Tourist Boat Springs Leak in Sundarbans

A precarious maritime situation unfolded on Saturday afternoon in the Sundarbans when a tourist vessel suffered a compromised hull and began rapidly taking on water. The incident occurred specifically in the Singher Tek area located within Bagerhat district, threatening the safety of everyone on board the stricken watercraft.
Faced with the mounting danger of the vessel sinking, immediate action was taken to secure help from the authorities. A desperate call for assistance was placed to the national emergency service hotline, dialing 999 to report the unfolding crisis in the remote mangrove forest waterways.
The distress call triggered an immediate response from law enforcement and rescue agencies operating in the region. A coordinated rescue operation was swiftly launched involving a team from the Bagerhat River Police alongside personnel from the Mongla Coast Guard.

In total, nine people—comprising the boatman and eight tourists—were safely rescued from the waterlogged boat.
