New Policy Planned for SSC Paper Reassessment Amid Record Applications

Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan has officially announced plans to formulate a brand-new policy specifically designed for the reassessment of academic answer sheets. This significant announcement regarding the nation's educational framework was made public during a prominent event held in the capital city.

The important gathering, known as the QS Bangladesh Forum 2026, took place on August 17 at a hotel located in Dhaka. The high-profile event brought together numerous distinguished figures, including academic leaders, international guests, and key policymakers from across the region to discuss the future of education.

During his address at the forum, Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan highlighted a massive administrative challenge facing the country's examination system. He revealed that for the recent Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, more than 1.2 million applications have already been submitted for the reassessment of answer sheets.

Elaborating on the sheer scale of the logistical burden, the minister noted that evaluating such a vast number of applications is extremely difficult. Consequently, the government is planning to formulate a new policy for script reassessment that will explicitly specify which types of answer sheets are eligible for review.

In addition to examination policies, the education minister emphasized the importance of human resource development during his speech. He stated that in order to transform the country's massive population into a productive workforce, there is simply no alternative to technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

Furthermore, concrete steps are being actively initiated to simplify visa policies with the ultimate objective of increasing opportunities for foreign students to pursue their studies in Bangladesh. The comprehensive event also featured key academic presentations, including a keynote paper presented by University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed.
