Nazrul's 50th Death Anniversary and SSC Achievers Honoured in Tangail
A cultural event titled 'Kabye O Chhande Nazrul' marked the 50th death anniversary of the national poet and Nazrul Year in Tangail. Forty-one students who achieved GPA-5 in their SSC examinations were also honoured at the programme.

A cultural programme titled 'Kabye O Chhande Nazrul' and a reception ceremony for meritorious students who successfully passed the SSC examinations were recently held in Tangail. The event took place on Saturday at the auditorium of BAF Shaheen School and College, located in the Paharpanchanpur area of Sakhipur upazila.
The significant gathering was organized to commemorate the 50th death anniversary of the revered poet Kazi Nazrul Islam alongside the ongoing observance of Nazrul Year. Alongside the cultural presentations celebrating the literary works of the national poet, the event served as a platform to recognize academic excellence among local youth, specifically honouring 41 students who attained the prestigious GPA-5 in their recent SSC examinations.
Ahmed Ayaz Khan graced the occasion as the chief guest, addressing the audience regarding the enduring legacy and profound impact of the celebrated poet. Sharing his perspective on the timeless relevance of the literary icon, the chief guest stated that the poet sang the songs of humanity, transcending all divisions of religion, caste, and social class.
He further elaborated that the literature left behind by Nazrul continues to inspire individuals to stand firmly against injustice and to remain by the side of the exploited and deprived populations. According to the chief guest, the poet's core ideology of equality and non-communalism remains deeply relevant and essential in the contemporary world.
The formal proceedings of the special cultural and reception event were presided over by Air Commodore Md. Mahmudur Hasan. His leadership helped guide the commemorative programme, which successfully blended cultural appreciation with the encouragement of high-achieving students from the local educational institution.
