Mymensingh Mail Resumes Service on Bhairab-Mymensingh Route After Six-Day Suspension

The Mymensingh Mail, commonly referred to as the Nasirabad Mail, officially resumed its railway operations on Sunday evening. The resumption of the train service on the Bhairab-Mymensingh route in Bangladesh followed a six-day suspension that had been implemented due to a critical locomotive crisis.

According to the verified details of the restart, the Mymensingh Mail was able to resume operations after railway authorities utilized a repaired engine to get the service back on track. However, the reinstated journey did not go entirely according to schedule on Sunday, as the train departed from Chittagong significantly later than planned.

Specifically, the train left Chittagong at 7:17 PM instead of its scheduled departure time of 4:15 PM, marking a delay of about three hours. Consequently, this delayed departure impacted the subsequent arrival time at Bhairab station, where the train finally pulled in around 3:30 AM instead of the scheduled 11:42 PM.

During the six-day suspension period, the lack of train operations caused considerable suffering for everyday passengers and working-class people. This disruption was felt acutely across the total of 27 stations that span the Bhairab-Mymensingh railway route.

Expressing the relief felt by commuters who rely on the affordable connection, a passenger named রইছ উদ্দিন shared his experience regarding the financial toll of the suspension: “ভৈরব পর্যন্ত আইতে আড়াই শ টেহা খরচ হইয়া গেছে। নাসিরাবাদ থাকলে এই টেহা লাগত না। বাড়ি থাইক্কা আইতে না পারলেও এখন যাইতে পারুম—এটাই আনন্দ।” Despite the delays and the previous disruption, the return of the Nasirabad Mail offers renewed travel options for locals along the route.
