Murder Case Filed Over Patient's Death at Brahmanbaria Rehab Centre
A murder case application has been filed in court over the death of patient Md Forkan Mia at the Prayas drug rehabilitation centre in Brahmanbaria town. The court has directed the officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station to investigate and submit a report.
A formal application for a murder case has been lodged with the Brahmanbaria Senior Judicial Magistrate Court regarding the death of a patient named Md Forkan Mia. The incident took place at the 'Prayas' drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation centre located in Brahmanbaria town on August 18, 2024.
The legal action was initiated by the victim's father, Abdur Rashid, who formally approached the judicial magistrate court to seek justice for his son's death at the rehabilitation facility. The application names several individuals, including Md Ikramul Haque alias Rubel, Pramod Kumar Barman, Riad Ahmad alias Roxy, Sathi, Arif, Sakib, Shahriyar, Abdul Hai, Afnan Sumi, and NM Kaysar, alongside the institution itself.
Following the presentation of the murder case application, the court reviewed the matter and issued a direct judicial instruction. The presiding magistrate ordered the officer-in-charge of the local Sadar Police Station to conduct a thorough and proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and to submit a formal report back to the court.
