Migratory birds arrive in Sirajganj's Ulupur Dighi and Chalan Beel
Migratory birds have arrived at the wetlands of Ulupur Dighi and Chalan Beel in Tarash, Sirajganj. Local stakeholders emphasize the urgent need to protect these visiting species from poachers to preserve ecological balance.

Migratory birds have arrived at the wetlands of Ulupur Dighi and Chalan Beel, located in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj district, as the winter season approaches. These water bodies traditionally serve as seasonal habitats for numerous species of visiting birds that travel long distances to seek refuge in the region's diverse aquatic ecosystems.
At Ulupur Dighi, observers have documented the presence of a wide variety of bird species. Among the confirmed wildlife spotted in the area are the Soli, Badar, Lalmon, Shamukkhol, Bok, and Balihas, contributing to the rich biodiversity of the local wetlands during this period of the year.
Despite the natural appeal of the seasonal migration, concerns have been raised regarding the safety and conservation of the birds. Rফিকুল ইসলাম addressed the ongoing threats faced by the wildlife, noting that the visiting species often fail to find the security they require upon arriving in the country. He pointed out that unscrupulous individuals routinely engage in hunting and killing birds across various times.
Highlighting the broader environmental consequences, Rফিকুল ইসলাম warned that if such indiscriminate killing of birds is allowed to continue unchecked, nature will inevitably lose its unique beauty. Furthermore, he cautioned that numerous bird species could face the severe risk of complete extinction from the region.
To counter these threats, local advocates including রাজ শেখ and সাগর তালুকদার, alongside representatives linked to the যমুনা সেতু পশ্চিম ইকোপার্ক, underscore the necessity of collective action. Rফিকুল ইসলাম concluded that ensuring the safe movement of migratory birds requires the public to cultivate both greater awareness and a more humane approach toward local wildlife preservation.
