Manikganj trader fined Tk 200,000 for selling adulterated DAP fertilizer
A mobile court in Saturia upazila has fined a local trader Tk 200,000 for selling adulterated DAP fertilizer. Five bags of fake fertilizer were also seized during the operation conducted on August 27, 2026.
In a decisive administrative action aimed at protecting agricultural communities, a mobile court has penalized a local business operator in Manikganj district for distributing counterfeit farming inputs. The operation specifically targeted unauthorized and substandard agricultural products that threaten crop yields and inflict financial losses on hardworking local farmers who rely on genuine supplies for their livelihoods.
The enforcement drive took place on August 27, 2026, at Janna Bazaar, which falls under the jurisdiction of Fukurhati Union in Saturia Upazila of Manikগঞ্জ district. Authorities acting on specific intelligence moved swiftly to inspect commercial establishments operating within the bustling local marketplace to verify the authenticity and quality of chemical fertilizers currently being offered to the agrarian public.
During the meticulous inspection of the designated trading establishment, the presiding official successfully uncovered clear evidence of illegal commercial practices. The operation resulted in the immediate physical seizure of five sacks of adulterated Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer, which were being marketed deceptively to unsuspecting agriculturalists operating within the local region.
As a direct consequence of these proven violations, the mobile court imposed a financial penalty amounting to two lakh taka upon the responsible trader, identified in official reports as Sanwar. The legal proceeding was personally conducted, overseen, and executed by Kazi Mohammad Anik Islam, who serves in the dual official capacities of Saturia Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate.
To ensure a comprehensive and secure execution of the administrative directive, the mobile court operation received vital ground-level assistance and operational backup from relevant regional authorities. Personnel representing both the Upazila Agriculture Department and the Saturia Police Station were actively present throughout the entirety of the enforcement proceedings at Janna Bazaar.
Speaking on the broader implications of the intervention, Kazi Mohammad Anik Islam emphasized that strict surveillance operations led by the upazila administration will continue persistently to safeguard agricultural interests and maintain stringent quality controls across all local markets. He explicitly stated that there will be absolutely no scope for individuals to defraud farmers by trading fake fertilizers or seeds, warning that severe legal measures will be systematically enforced against all perpetrators involved in such illicit criminal activities.
