A fresh wave of internal turmoil has hit the Juba Dal unit in Lakshmipur, as eighteen newly appointed leaders officially submitted their resignation letters. The latest resignations underscore deep-seated organizational instability and severe factional friction within the party apparatus operating under the Chandraganj police station jurisdiction in Kushakhali Union.

The unfolding crisis stems from rapid and contentious committee formations that have unfolded within a remarkably brief timeframe. Specifically, the organizational leadership structure for Kushakhali Union Juba Dal has experienced two separate committee announcements and subsequent leadership collapses within the span of just one month, leaving grassroots activists and supporters in a state of profound confusion.

The sequence of events intensified dramatically on August 23, 2026, when a fresh 31-member committee was officially announced for the Kushakhali Union branch. Under this newly minted arrangement, Rafiq Ullah was designated as the convener, while Masudur Rahman Masud was appointed to serve as the member secretary, alongside twelve individuals who were named as joint conveners.

However, this newly declared leadership lineup immediately triggered fierce local backlash and allegations of financial impropriety. Local party members Faruk Hossain and Iman openly voiced their frustrations regarding the recurring turmoil, stating that controversies surrounding the union Juba Dal unit appear to have no end. They alleged that leadership positions are awarded to whoever can provide the highest monetary amount, noting that the sequence of committee announcements, subsequent resignations, and dissolutions followed by dramatic new committees has left them completely bewildered.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, this latest administrative breakdown closely mirrors a nearly identical crisis that occurred weeks prior. Previously, on July 26, 2026, an initial committee was announced for the same union, which similarly became engulfed in intense controversy and triggered immediate resignations before being formally dissolved by central party authorities on July 28.

In response to the mounting allegations and the mass departures, local and district organizational figures have offered contrasting explanations. Enayet Ullah addressed the situation by stating that the newly resigned committee members will be engaged in discussions, attributing the underlying friction primarily to ongoing rivalries among BNP leaders ahead of the upcoming union parishad elections while categorically denying accusations that committees are formed in exchange for money. Meanwhile, Syed Rashidul Hasan Lincoln maintained that while a few individuals might have stepped down out of anger or frustration, the claim that eighteen leaders have resigned is inaccurate, insisting instead that the individuals selected for the committee are proven and tested veterans of the party.
