KUET Celebrates 23rd Anniversary with Education Ministers

Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) recently marked its 23rd anniversary and university day on September 1, drawing a significant gathering of academics, officials, and political figures to the campus. The milestone event celebrated the institution's history and its ongoing contributions to higher education and technical development in the region.

Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan, serving as the Minister for both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, graced the anniversary celebrations as the chief guest. His presence underscored the national significance of the institution's founding anniversary and provided a platform for high-level discussions regarding the state of education in the country.

During the proceedings, the education minister addressed critical policy matters concerning the nation's schooling and institutional frameworks. He remarked that education was given the highest priority through specific past initiatives, noting that current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman similarly places the utmost importance on the education sector. The event also brought together numerous notable individuals, including Khaleda Zia, Rakibul Islam Bakul, Professor Dr. Muhammed Masud, Professor Dr. Muhammed Shahjahan Ali, Professor Dr. Md. Hasan Ali, Amir Ejaz Khan, S M Shafiqul Alam Mona, Professor Dr. Muhammed Rezaul Karim, and Shafiqul Alam Tuhin.

Discussions at the university day also touched upon pressing administrative challenges within the broader educational landscape. Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan explicitly noted that the recruitment of 77,000 teachers under the Ministry of Education is currently stuck in complications. He added that discussions are actively underway to swiftly remove these complications and ensure the finalization of the appointments.

The anniversary celebration further highlighted several statistics and figures pertaining to national resource allocation and student investments. Current financial data indicates that the education sector receives 3.4 percent of the national budget allocation. Additionally, the government spends approximately 1,075,000 Taka behind each individual student.

As part of broader educational support initiatives discussed in connection with national policies, a decision has been finalized to distribute a single tablet device to each of the 116,000 students who achieved a GPA-5. The event concluded with academic leaders and institutional representatives reflecting on the future trajectory of the university alongside the visiting dignitaries and officials from various governmental and educational bodies.
