Updated health data released for the Khulna division has revealed that the total number of dengue infections has reached 5,565 between January 1 and August 30 of this current year. The comprehensive figures, made public by health authorities, outline the ongoing public health challenge posed by the mosquito-borne virus across various districts within the division.

In addition to the mounting number of infections, officials confirmed that one more person has died from dengue in the Khulna division over the past 24 hours. This latest fatality brings the total cumulative death toll from the virus to 20 individuals since the beginning of the year.

Regarding the current status of those affected, the department reported that 4,726 patients have successfully recovered from the illness and returned home to their families. Meanwhile, a total of 705 patients are currently undergoing medical treatment in hospitals across the region, while 114 individuals have been officially referred elsewhere for advanced care.

A closer look at the geographical distribution of the outbreak indicates that the Khulna district is experiencing the highest rate of infection within the entire division. Specifically, the Khulna district alone has accounted for 1,877 diagnosed dengue patients so far.

Further compounding the situation in the hardest-hit district, the Khulna Medical College Hospital has emerged as a primary treatment hub, having identified and registered 1,334 dengue patients within its facilities. Health officials continue to monitor the situation closely as medical teams manage the influx of patients across the division.
