Karnafuli Tunnel Announces Night Traffic Diversions for Maintenance
Nighttime traffic diversions are scheduled at the Karnafuli Tunnel for six days for routine maintenance work. Passengers may experience brief delays at both ends of the tunnel during the closure hours.

Authorities have announced a scheduled traffic diversion for the Karnafuli Tunnel in Chattogram to facilitate necessary routine maintenance work. The maintenance operations will affect vehicular movement during the late-night hours over a period of six consecutive days, according to an official announcement released on August 23.
The temporary traffic alterations are scheduled to take place from August 26 through August 31. During this six-day maintenance window, the traffic diversions will be enforced nightly from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM, specifically affecting the tube running from Patenga to Anowara.
Md. Masud Rana Sikdar, representing the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, confirmed the operational adjustments required for the upkeep of the underwater infrastructure. The routine maintenance is deemed essential to ensure the continued safety and efficiency of the tunnel's transit systems.
Commuters utilizing the route during the restricted hours should anticipate minor disruptions to their travel schedules. Depending on the volume of traffic present at the time, motorists and passengers at both entrances of the tunnel may be required to wait anywhere from five to a maximum of ten minutes.
The Bangladesh Bridge Authority has advised travelers to plan their journeys accordingly to account for the brief waiting periods. Regular traffic flow is expected to resume immediately following the conclusion of the daily six-hour maintenance window each morning.
