Kakon Rana Remanded for Six Days in Cyber Fraud and Blackmail Case

A Dhaka court has granted a six-day remand for thirty-five-year-old Kakon Rana in connection with a cyber fraud and blackmail case. The legal proceedings are unfolding in Dhaka, Bangladesh, following an official investigation into the creation of fake social media profiles targeting the wife of the Prime Minister and APS-2.

The formal case was lodged on August 23, 2024, at the Banani police station. The charges against the accused fall under the provisions of the country's cyber security legislation, prompting immediate attention and formal intervention from law enforcement authorities within the capital.

Following the filing of the case, the designated investigation officer handling the matter formally petitioned the court for a seven-day remand to thoroughly question the suspect. The request was submitted to the Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court as part of ongoing investigative procedures.

During the subsequent court hearing, the judicial authorities reviewed the prosecution's application and officially approved a six-day remand for Kakon Rana.
