In response to the ongoing global energy crisis and a resulting drop in electricity production, authorities at Jahangirnagar University in Savar, Bangladesh, have officially decided to implement a daily schedule of temporary power outages across the campus. The measure aims to manage constrained energy resources effectively while minimizing disruption to academic and administrative activities as much as possible under the current circumstances.

The administrative framework for these scheduled power interruptions was established on Sunday, September 13. On this date, the engineering office of Jahangirnagar University formally issued a notification detailing the exact timings and implementation strategy for the campus-wide load-shedding initiative, ensuring that all departments and residential areas are formally informed of the adjustments.

According to the newly adopted schedule outlined by the university authorities, the power supply will be suspended for a total of two hours every single day. The interruptions are divided into two distinct blocks distributed across the morning and evening periods to balance the immediate energy needs of students, faculty members, and campus residents throughout the day.

The first period of power suspension is scheduled to take place in the morning, running strictly from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM for a duration of one hour. This early morning intervention is designed to coincide with the initial hours of the daily routine on the campus located in Savar.

The second period of temporary load-shedding will occur in the late afternoon and early evening, specifically from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM for another one-hour duration. Together, these measures amount to a total of two hours of daily power cuts managed in coordination with the relevant local utility framework, namely Dhaka Palli Bidyut Samity-3, as well as internal administrative bodies like Nazmul Alam and the university engineering office.
