Islamic University Expels Student Over Secret Hall Photos Scandal
An Islamic University student has been permanently expelled from a residential hall after being accused of secretly photographing female peers and sending the images to her expatriate boyfriend. The decision was confirmed by the hall provost on August 18.
Authorities at the Islamic University in Kushtia have taken decisive disciplinary action against a student following a serious breach of privacy within campus residential facilities. Tubaul Jannat Oishi, a student from the Department of Economics belonging to the 2021-22 academic session, has been permanently expelled from her residential accommodation.
The action comes in the wake of severe allegations leveled against the economics student. According to the findings of the administration, Tubaul Jannat Oishi was accused of secretly capturing private photographs of female residents residing inside the university's July-36 Residential Hall.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed that after capturing these confidential images without the consent or knowledge of her peers, the accused student proceeded to transmit the photographs abroad to her expatriate boyfriend, raising profound concerns over student safety, digital privacy, and the security of residential facilities on campus.
Following a thorough review of the grievance and the subsequent establishment of the veracity of the accusations, the university administration moved swiftly to penalize the student. The inquiry established the validity of the claims made against her regarding the unauthorized photography and distribution of the female residents' private pictures.
The formal confirmation of the disciplinary measure was delivered to the media on August 18. Professor Dr. A. K. M. Shamsul Haque Siddiqui, who serves as the provost of the July-36 Residential Hall, officially verified the development to journalists, confirming that the permanent expulsion from the hall had been enacted in response to the proven violations.
