IPU Secretary General Meets Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Official
IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong met with Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Secretary Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan in Dhaka. Discussions focused on the upcoming 13th national parliament and participation in the upcoming IPU conference in Tanzania.

On August 31, a high-level diplomatic engagement took place at the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat in Dhaka, involving international parliamentary leadership and senior national legislative officials. The meeting brought together a visiting three-member delegation from the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), led by IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong, and the Secretary of the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat, Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, inside his official office.
During the official discussions, the two sides engaged in substantive talks regarding the current and future landscape of national legislation. Specifically, the deliberations centered on the 13th national parliament, marking a notable point of focus for both the domestic parliamentary administration and the international governing body as they reviewed ongoing legislative developments within the country.
A key agenda item raised during the meeting involved international parliamentary diplomacy and upcoming global summits. Representatives formally requested the Bangladesh National Parliament to ensure the active participation of its official delegation at the forthcoming Inter-Parliamentary Union conference, which is scheduled to take place in Tanzania.
Highlighting the historical and ongoing diplomatic ties between the two entities, IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong made several positive remarks concerning Bangladesh's status within the global organization. Speaking during the official interaction, Mr. Chungong stated that the Bangladesh National Parliament is an effective member of the IPU and emphasized that Bangladesh shares a long-standing and robust relationship with the international union.
Reaffirming the global body's commitment to strengthening these institutional bonds moving forward, the IPU Secretary General added that this vital relationship will continue to grow. He explicitly assured that the Inter-Parliamentary Union will actively work hand-in-hand with the Bangladesh National Parliament to further enrich and expand their cooperative partnership in the future.
