Guavas are widely recognized for their rich nutritional profile, containing essential elements such as vitamin C, fiber, antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin E, lycopene, and beta-carotene. According to recent reports from the media outlet News18 in India, these nutrients contribute to the overall value of the fruit in a regular diet. However, despite these numerous health benefits, medical professionals emphasize the importance of moderation when consuming the fruit to avoid adverse health effects.

Homeopathic expert Amir Anwar has highlighted several potential drawbacks associated with the overconsumption of guavas. According to Amir Anwar, eating excessive amounts of the fruit can trigger irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a disorder affecting the digestive system. The common symptoms linked to this condition include bloating, excess gas, and diarrhea, which can cause significant discomfort for individuals who consume the fruit in large quantities.

In addition to digestive complications, the expert noted that some individuals may experience allergic reactions after consuming guavas. These allergic symptoms can manifest in various ways, including itching, swelling, or even breathing difficulties. Consequently, Amir Anwar advises that individuals who have a known history of fruit allergies should consult a medical specialist before incorporating guavas into their diet.

Certain demographic groups also need to exercise caution regarding their guava intake. Individuals suffering from kidney diseases may find it difficult to process excessive levels of potassium, meaning they should refrain from eating too many guavas. Similarly, pregnant women and nursing mothers are advised to consult a physician before consuming the fruit to ensure it aligns with their specific health needs.
