Government to Consider National Ulama Advisory Committee: Religious Minister

The government of Bangladesh is actively considering the establishment of a national ulama advisory committee to address and resolve ongoing confusions regarding religious matters. This significant announcement was formally made to the national parliament by Religious Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaykobad) during a parliamentary question-and-answer session held at the Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka on Monday.

The parliamentary proceedings on Monday commenced under the official presidency and chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. During this particular session, lawmakers and officials discussed various matters pertaining to the religious ministry, alongside other important state affairs brought to the floor of the house by members including Shahjahan Chowdhury and Mohammad Mazharul Islam.

In addition to the proposed formation of the advisory committee, financial disclosures concerning state-managed religious funds were presented to the parliament. Official figures revealed that the total amount of Zakat collected during the current fiscal year has reached an aggregate sum of seven crore taka.

Furthermore, the session shed light on the current balance available within the official state Zakat fund. According to the data provided to the lawmakers at the Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka, the government Zakat fund currently holds a balance of one crore fifty-nine taka.
