Former Councillor and Chhatra League Leader Detained in Ramganj
Two local political figures were detained by police while traveling from Ramganj to Chatkhil. The detentions follow a food distribution event held on August 15.

Police in Ramganj, Laxmipur, have detained two local political figures suspected of having ties to the Awami League. The individuals identified by authorities are Rasheduzzaman Rashel, a former municipal councillor and Jubo League leader, alongside Morshedul Amin Babu, a former leader of the Chhatra League.
According to verified reports, the detentions took place on the night of Friday, August 14. Law enforcement officers intercepted the two men while they were travelling from Ramganj toward Chatkhil in Noakhali, leading to their subsequent apprehension by the local police force.
The sequence of events leading up to the police action began earlier in the afternoon. On that day, a food distribution program had been organized in the Ramganj Child Park area to mark the observance of August 15, drawing local attention to the area before the night-time detentions occurred.
Firoz Uddin Chowdhury, representing the Ramganj police station, provided details regarding the ongoing security operations. He confirmed the detentions, stating that Rashel and Babu were the two individuals taken into custody by law enforcement personnel during the night.
Emphasizing the broader security efforts underway in the region, the police official noted that operations aimed at preventing terrorist and disruptive activities remain strictly ongoing. Firoz Uddin Chowdhury further added that comprehensive legal measures will be initiated against the detained men following the formal conclusion of the ongoing police operations.
