Footage Shows Kumamoto Hospital Shaken by 6.8 Magnitude Earthquake
Security camera footage has been released showing Kumamoto General Hospital violently shaken by a magnitude 6.8 earthquake last month. Despite the severe tremor, medical staff successfully completed four surgeries that were under way at the time.

Newly released security camera footage has provided a dramatic visual record of the moment a powerful earthquake struck Kumamoto General Hospital in Japan last month. The footage documents the terrifying intensity of the tremor, which registered at a magnitude of 6.8 and caused the hospital building to shake violently as medical personnel scrambled to respond.
At the precise moment the earthquake struck, four separate surgical procedures were actively under way within the medical facility. The unexpected seismic event immediately threatened the safety of the patients on the operating tables as heavy medical equipment began to sway dangerously around the surgical teams.
Demonstrating extraordinary composure and dedication under extreme pressure, the medical staff took immediate action to protect their vulnerable patients. During one particular abdominal surgery, doctors and nurses physically shielded the patient with their own bodies while the surrounding operating room and equipment shook from the force of the tremor.
Despite the chaotic conditions, the immediate danger, and the swaying equipment inside the operating theaters, the medical professionals persevered through the crisis. Official reports confirm that all four complex operations that were interrupted by the earthquake were successfully completed without harm to the patients.
Following the disaster, Kumamoto General Hospital was forced to temporarily suspend its operations in the aftermath of the July 28 earthquake. However, normal hospital functions have since been restored, with the facility officially resuming its regular outpatient services on August 5.
