Farhan Shahriyar Remanded for 5 Days Over Dhaka Doctor Attack

A Dhaka court has granted a five-day police remand for Farhan Shahriyar, also known as Ivan, in connection with a criminal case involving the assault, intimidation, and extortion of a senior medical professional at a prominent hospital in the capital city.

The legal proceedings and subsequent remand order stem from an official complaint lodged by the victim, Professor Dr. Md. Asadur Rahman, who serves at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Dr. Rahman formally initiated the legal action by filing a case as the plaintiff.

The formal complaint was registered at the Paltan Model Police Station. According to the case details, the incident involves serious allegations of physical assault, instilling fear through intimidation, and demands for extortion directed against Professor Dr. Md. Asadur Rahman.

Following the filing of the case, law enforcement authorities arrested Farhan Shahriyar in connection with the ongoing investigation. The accused was subsequently produced before the judicial authorities in Dhaka to face the initial legal hearings regarding the charges brought against him.

During the court proceedings held on Saturday, the presiding judicial official, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Manjurul Islam, heard the arguments presented regarding the case. Following the hearing, the court officially granted a five-day remand for the accused, allowing law enforcement officers further time for questioning.
