An 82-year-old woman named Rezia Khatun has died following a heated altercation and subsequent physical push stemming from an ongoing land dispute in Mymensingh district. The tragic incident took place on August 17, 2026, in Bariakanda village, located within the Shakuai union of Haluaghat upazila, sending shockwaves through the local community.
According to the verified details of the case, the confrontation arose out of a disagreement regarding land ownership and verbal arguments between the involved parties. During the course of this dispute, the elderly victim was reportedly pushed, which directly led to her sudden and unfortunate death at the scene.
In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, local law enforcement authorities from the Haluaghat police station intervened to manage the situation and initiate a thorough investigation. Police personnel arrived at the location to secure the area, gather initial evidence, and take control of the unfolding situation in Bariakanda village.
As part of their ongoing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death, law enforcement officials have detained two individuals for questioning. The detained suspects are the victim's own son, Dulal Mia, and her daughter-in-law, Hosne Ara, both of whom are currently being interrogated by police to determine their precise involvement.
Authorities have successfully recovered the lifeless body of Rezia Khatun from the scene of the incident.
