DUCSU Delegation Meets Minister to Discuss Campus Security and Welfare

A delegation representing the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) has met with the Minister for Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs in Dhaka. The high-level meeting focused on several pressing concerns, including strengthening security across the Dhaka University campus, rehabilitating refugees, and ensuring a proper, conducive environment for all students pursuing their education at the institution.

During the discussions, the participants deliberated extensively on the formation of an active monitoring team. This specialized monitoring committee is proposed to oversee and keep a close watch on displaced and homeless individuals within the surrounding areas, addressing humanitarian and security concerns simultaneously.

The meeting also addressed the prevailing security situation and criminal activities reported around vital historical and public locations, specifically highlighting the areas adjacent to the Shaheed Minar and Suhrawardy Udyan. Ensuring the safety of students and citizens visiting these prominent zones remains a priority for the authorities and student representatives alike.

In addition to safety and infrastructure concerns, the talks placed a strong emphasis on empowering female students through targeted educational initiatives. A formal proposal was tabled during the session to introduce advanced technical training programs specifically designed to enhance the professional skills of female students in modern digital sectors.

Under the proposed skill-development initiative, women and female scholars would receive specialized training in critical contemporary fields such as computer operations, artificial intelligence (AI), digital marketing, and graphic design. This comprehensive approach aims to bridge the digital divide and prepare students for competitive modern job markets.
