DMP Traffic Division Files 3,206 Cases in Two-Day Dhaka Drive
The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has filed 3,206 cases against traffic rule violators across the capital. The widespread enforcement operation took place over Thursday and Friday, September 3 and 4.
The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has conducted a comprehensive enforcement operation across various areas of the capital city to crack down on traffic rule violations. According to official data released regarding the recent crackdown, the extensive traffic drive resulted in a total of 3,206 cases being filed against motorists and vehicle operators who failed to comply with existing traffic regulations.
This intensified security and regulatory operation was officially carried out over a span of two consecutive days, specifically on Thursday and Friday, corresponding to September 3 and 4. During these two days of heightened scrutiny on the streets of Dhaka, law enforcement personnel actively monitored traffic movements and took strict legal action against those found flouting the law.
In addition to the thousands of cases filed during the two-day operation, the enforcement actions extended to the physical removal and impoundment of offending vehicles. Official records from the drive confirm that a total of 878 vehicles were subjected to dumping, while another 501 vehicles were handled using wreckers by the respective operational units.
The operations were executed by multiple specialized units operating under the umbrella of the DMP's traffic wing. These participating administrative branches included the Traffic-Ramna Division, Traffic-Lalbagh Division, Traffic-Motijheel Division, Traffic-Wari Division, Traffic-Tejgaon Division, Traffic-Mirpur Division, Traffic-Uttara Division, and the Traffic-Gulshan Division, all working in coordination across the capital.
Addressing the ongoing efforts to maintain order on the roadways, Mo. Akhtar Hossain made a formal statement regarding the continuation of these law enforcement measures. Emphasizing the commitment of the authorities, Mo. Akhtar Hossain stated that the operation by the DMP traffic division to maintain traffic discipline within the Dhaka metropolitan area will continue unabated.
