DMP Arrests 482 People in Regular Dhaka Operations Across Various Areas
Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 482 individuals during regular operations across various areas of the capital over a 24-hour period. Authorities also filed 32 cases concerning various offenses during the same timeframe.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted regular operations across various areas of the capital, resulting in the arrest of 482 people over a 24-hour period. Niaz Mehedi, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division, officially confirmed these enforcement details.
Alongside the hundreds of arrests, law enforcement officials filed 32 separate cases addressing various criminal offenses committed throughout the city. These enforcement actions spanned multiple operational divisions across the metropolitan area to maintain public order and security.
A breakdown of the arrests by jurisdiction highlights the geographic distribution of the police operations. The Ramna division reported 44 arrests, matching the 44 individuals taken into custody within the Lalbagh division. Meanwhile, officers in the Wari division detained 55 people, and the Motijheel division accounted for 57 arrests.
Additional enforcement efforts across other parts of the capital yielded significant numbers of detainees. The Tejgaon division recorded 56 arrests, while the Mirpur division saw the highest concentration with 119 people taken into custody. Furthermore, the Gulshan division reported 39 arrests, the Uttara division detained 59 people, and the Detective Division apprehended 9 individuals.
During the course of these regular operations, police forces also seized a substantial quantity of illicit items, contraband, and valuables. The recovered items included one gold locket, counterfeit currency amounting to 16,000 taka, nine mobile phones, three laptops, two CPUs, two tablets, and 55 SIM cards. Additionally, authorities confiscated 268,500 taka in cash, alongside massive quantities of narcotics comprising 13,914 pieces of yaba tablets, 913 grams of heroin, and 32 kilograms of cannabis.
