On the morning of September 1st, data released by the Switzerland-based air quality monitoring organization IQAir placed the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka, in the tenth position on the global ranking of cities with polluted air. The comprehensive international metrics provided by the organization outline the relative standing of various metropolitan areas regarding particulate matter and overall atmospheric conditions on that specific day.

According to the standardized evaluation parameters utilized by IQAir, an air quality score falling within the range of 101 to 150 is officially classified as being unhealthy for sensitive groups. During the morning assessment conducted at 9:00 AM, Dhaka's specific numerical score was recorded at 117, placing it firmly within this designated threshold of environmental concern for vulnerable populations within the urban area.

Alongside the ranking achieved by Dhaka, the global air quality index report published by IQAir highlighted several other prominent international cities facing varying degrees of atmospheric pollution. Notably, the city of Kuching recorded a significantly high score of 591, while both Kampala and Dubai registered identical scores of 184 on the monitoring platform's scale.

Furthermore, the data detailed the air quality measurements for other major regional capitals and urban centers across the globe. New Delhi was documented with a pollution score of 175, and the Indonesian capital of Jakarta appeared on the comparative list with a recorded score of 144.

The dissemination of these international air quality statistics was originally monitored and reported by Dhaka Post, bringing the global standings to local attention. These recurring metrics serve to highlight the ongoing environmental challenges faced by Dhaka and numerous other urban centers worldwide as monitored by the Switzerland-based organization.
